#WhyWednesday: Emerald Jane Hunter
We are thrilled to continue our #WhyWednesday series with our new board member, Emerald-Jane Hunter!
#WhyWednesday is a weekly feature of a female leader that is involved in our organization. A “why” is the reason they decided to become involved with Female Strong, what female empowerment and leadership means to them, or why they do what they do.
Emerald-Jane Hunter — EJ, for short — is the founder and ringleader of myWHY Agency, a Black-owned, women-led marketing and creative agency.
EJ is a four-time Emmy Award-winning Producer and a master of all things media, storytelling, and content creation. Born in Ghana, West Africa, EJ moved to the states at age 19. She received her BA in Communications at Luther College in Iowa, and in 2003, she came to Chicago, where she discovered her “Why” in storytelling.
Now, she is living her “Why” — and brings that passion to Female Strong.
What is Your “Why,” EJ?
Confident. Productive. Optimistic. Go-getter. Risk-taker. Fearless.
She stands up for what she believes in. She knows who she is, loves who she is, and makes no apologies. She builds others up, owns her success, and gets back up when life hands her lemons.
Female strong means mentally strong. A woman of character. One who sets good examples for others while also taking good care of herself at the same time. We all, as women, have this strength within us, and it is very important that we do not forget this.
Keep reinventing yourself no matter what, because we are made — phenomenally and wonderfully — female and strong.
