As the warm days of summer draw to a close and school starts up, we couldn’t be more thrilled to share the incredible success of our Female Strong Camps over the past few months. This summer has been nothing short of extraordinary, filled with inspiring moments, empowering activities, and the joyous laughter of young girls coming together to learn, create, and grow.
Our Female Strong Camps are one-day events held at our gracious host partners’ locations. With a focus on building confidence, nurturing curiosity, and fostering creativity, these camps are designed to equip young girls with the skills and mindset they need to become future leaders. We are excited to share that this summer, we had the privilege of hosting not just one, but five fabulous camps with incredible partners: Wurkwel, Ajinomoto, ARCO/Murray, and TWO camps at Wintrust.

Wurkwel Camp
The girls visited a furniture warehouse and embarked on a hands-on adventure in design. Together, they collaborated to refurbish furniture, selecting fabrics and finishes to bring their creative visions to life. With excitement in the air, these strong girls ventured across the warehouse, carrying reams of fabric for their furniture pieces, fueling their dreams one step at a time.
Ajinomoto Camp
Flavors and science merged as the gals delved into the world of food science. Through making their own chip flavors and experimenting with MSG, they not only learned about culinary arts but also expanded their understanding of science and its delicious applications. Carrots and ranch dressing never looked so intriguing, as the girls played detective trying to figure out which ranch did or didn’t have MSG.
ARCO/Murray Camp
A splendid design activity awaited the students, where they got to envision and design their very own buildings. Armed with cardboard models and crafting supplies, the girls honed their creativity and budgeting skills, making thoughtful decisions about material choices with “ARCO Bucks.” The highlight? A learning lunch where the girls engaged in inspiring conversations with the women of ARCO, gaining valuable insights into their futures as women capable of achieving greatness.
Wintrust Camps
Female Strong was lucky enough to have Wintrust host not one but TWO Female Strong camps with us this summer, inviting students from across the city! with Wintrust, money matters took center stage as the gals delved into the world of finances. Learning about checks and essential vs. nonessential items, these future financial powerhouses gained essential life skills. The icing on the cake was a dynamic panel discussion with accomplished women from Wintrust, providing a window into the world of women in the workplace, and showcasing the girls’ aspirations and potential.
We are beyond thrilled to announce that our summer camps have been an incredible success. The energy, enthusiasm, and growth we witnessed in each and every participant were truly heartwarming. The feedback we have gotten back has been overwhelmingly positive. We owe our deepest gratitude to our remarkable host partners—Wurkwel, Ajinomoto, ARCO Murray, Wintrust, PaperSource, and our volunteers—for their unwavering support and collaboration in making this summer a truly unforgettable experience.
